The nonprofit organization Concho CAN! was founded in 2004 to help strengthen and bring the community of Concho together. The organization’s Board of Directors takes on projects in the community with funding from various sources to aid in the achievement of Concho CAN’s goals and objectives for the community of Concho.

For the past 13 years, the organization has worked hard to create a community center for communal functions. Over the last decade, the organization had leased space that became available in the area, but as funding dwindled, so did the ability to provide a center.

Our Mission

“Making Concho a great place to live, work, play, and retire.”

Concho CAN! is dedicated to helping Concho become a community for all ages by using strategies that support families and individuals across lifespans that provide opportunities for lifelong learning and civic engagement, and promote cross-generation interaction.

Our Achievements

Concho CAN! is proud to have represented Concho as a pioneer leadership site in the Arizona Community Foundation’s Statewide ‘Community For All Ages’ Network. Click here for a power point presentation about the network. In 2005, with a grant from the Arizona Community Foundation (ACF), Concho CAN! conducted a Community for all Ages (CFAA) survey which showed a groundswell of support for improving and increasing recreational programs, facilities and services. With CFAA funding from the ACF, Concho CAN! revitalized and improved the grounds at Concho Valley Lions’ park and Concho Lake, created the Concho Activity Center, and organized a lunch and leisure program, an after school enrichment program, and established a calendar of Annual Community Events. Though some of these programs have been suspended due to a decrease in funding, many community events have continued through the support and contributions of local community organizations and volunteers. These events include holiday celebrations such as an Easter egg hunt, Holiday Bazaar, and Fourth of July picnic. Concho’s first Memorial Day Parade to honor war veterans was launched in 2006 and has become an annual event and a significant source of pride for this community. The outcome of this project has been a growing sense of community spirit and involvement for those who have come forward to lead and participate.
